There’s a new face around Trapper’s Rendezvous! Our wonderful innkeepers Emily and Matthieu have moved away for an exciting new chapter of their lives, and left some big shoes to fill. Caroline has stepped in, and is ready to welcome you to this special place!
Caroline and her husband moved to Arizona in 2021 for his work on the Kaibab National Forest. They brought along their big dog and Caroline’s many years of hospitality experience managing B&Bs and cooking on dude ranches from Colorado to Kentucky to California and Montana. When she found out that Trapper’s Rendezvous was in search of a new innkeeper, the timing couldn’t have been better!
Caroline and Matthew (a theme name around here now!) met in Virginia, Caroline’s home state, in 2008. Combined, they have lived in nine states now, and traveled in many countries around the world. What started out as a love of baking evolved through a series of opportunities into a passion for small-scale hospitality. Along with spending time in the kitchen and getting to know guests, Caroline loves all things outdoors, horses, volleyball, and music. When they get a moment to themselves, she and Matthew sneak off to camp in their secret spots around the National Forest with their big dog, Deacon. If you like dogs, definitely say hi to Deacon while you’re here. But beware… if you start petting him, he might not let you stop!
We hope you get some time during your stay to relax and chat with Caroline. She says, “I think one of the most amazing aspects of Arizona is the remarkable biodiversity and variety throughout the state. It’s not just the Grand Canyon! Within a few hours of driving you can go through so many different landscapes. Saguaro cactus desert, waterfalls, aspen groves, slot canyons, ponderosa forest, desert heat, mountain snow- there is just so much to explore here!”
As for what makes Trapper’s unique, Caroline says “This place just makes you relax, and I really want everybody to feel welcome. I love watching families play games together in the yard, couples enjoying a campfire or coffee on the porch, just generally people slowing down and enjoying their time together. It’s so special to be a part of folks making memories.”
Caroline and her wonderful assistants truly want your stay here to be as enjoyable and memorable as possible, so don’t hesitate to let them know how they can help!
